Rainbow Riverside Park is named after Rainbow Bridge and is just north of Raohe Night Market.
Rainbow Riverside Park is located in Taipei along the Keelung River between the Sun Yat-Sen Freeway and the First MacArthur Bridge. The park is on both sides of the river and is a common place for joggers and cyclists. It is the closest riverside park with a good view of Taipei 101 and a nice place to watch the sunset. After the sunset, there are good views of Taipei’s night time skyline.
Bridges of Rainbow Riverside Park
There are three distinctive bridges that cross the Keelung River and over the Rainbow Riverside Park. These bridges are the First MacArther Bridge, the Chengmei Bridge and the Rainbow Bridge which the park is names after (See more about the Rainbow Bridge by following the link at the end of the post). These bridges are shown in the photos below, in the order listed.
Love Theme
The love square underneath the Rainbow Bridge features a love theme of artwork. This area of the park includes the lovers’ path with “I love you” written in 12 languages, a “I♥U” sculpture, love themed murals, LOVE seat, and the LOVE sculpture with places to fasten love locks. Couples are welcome to visit the love square and enjoy the romantic atmosphere.
The Dust on My Shoes
Rainbow Riverside Park is not a destination that most tourist go to when visiting Taipei but it is located between two notable tourist sites, the Raohe Night Market and the Rainbow Bridge. It is literally required to pass through Rainbow Riverside Park to get from the Rainbow Bridge to the Raohe Night Market. Since you are going to be there anyway, take a little time to see the park and the views of Taipei from the park. Also, take a little extra time to wander around love square if you are there as a couple.
I always have my top places to see on every trip but I also look to see if there are any interesting sites close by. Sometimes little known place near the famous places can add to the overall enjoyment of the trip.
