Dams

A dam is a barrier that stops or restricts the flow of surface water. Dams generally serve the primary purpose to manage or prevent water flow for flood control or water distribution. In addition to the obvious function of water control dams create reservoirs that are used for water activities and many dams create hydropower electricity.

Most dams are not places that would be considered tourists attractions but some of the largest dams in the world are considered engineering marvels and many visitors travel to see these great achievements.

The posts that are shown under this category are the dams that I have been able to visit in my travels. I hope that you will enjoy seeing these engineering marvels and that I will be able to communicate the features that make these dams special achievements.
