Chiang Rai is in Northern Thailand near the borders of Laos and Myanmar. It is easy to make a daytrip to the golden triangle where Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet at one point or a day trip to nearby Tachileik, Myanmar for shopping just across the border. One must see in Chiang Rai is the White Temple, the all white construction make it unique form any other temple that I have visited.
