Castles were built to be defensive sanctuaries and were built in locations that made it difficult for invaders. Many castles were built on top of high locations, on the banks of a river or on the coast line. Because of this almost all castles have good views of the area surrounding them.

Visiting castles lets us see the strength of these fortresses and the techniques that were used to make it more difficult to attack them. When you do visit these sites make sure to look from the inside out to enjoy the view or the surrounding areas.
