Glaciers seem to have a life of their own. They grow in the winter and shrink in the summer and they actual move. The first glacier that I ever saw was in New Zealand and I was surprised to see the white colored river flowing from it. The white color was cause by the powered rock that was mixed in the water which was created by the moving glacier crushing the rocks beneath it.
Glaciers that are formed at the ocean melt in the summer and release large chunks of ice into the water which are pretty to see but there can be so much ice in the water that the area near the glacier is impassable for boats.
The posts that will be shown under this category are the glaciers that I have seen in my travels. I hope that you will enjoy my posts on these glaciers and that I will be able to show them in a way that will illustrate what makes them so interesting to me.
I will be making more posts on other glaciers, so check back later to see these future posts.
