The King Power Mahanakhon SkyWalk offers an unparalleled view of Bangkok from Thailand’s tallest observation deck.

The King Power MahaNakhon SkyWalk is located on the 74th floor of the King Power MahaNakhon Tower in the heart of the Bangkok central business district. The ride to the SkyWalk is on one of Thailand’s fastest elevators that arrives in less than 50 seconds. The ride seems even faster because the elevator has a video themed digital experience to entertain you on the journey up the building.

The view from the SkyWalk gives you a completely different perspective of Bangkok than from being on the street level. The 360 degree view allows you to see how large the city is and it provides you with a bird’s eye view of the city’s other modern buildings, the Chao Phraya River, some of Bangkok’s city parks and of course some of the spectacular temples.

Bangkok Cityscape

The observation deck provides a 360 degree panoramic views of the Bangkok Cityscape from both indoor and outdoor viewing areas. I always knew Bangkok was a huge city but seeing it from this prospective was a real surprise. The central business district surrounds the tower with skyscrapers in all directions but in some directions the skyscrapers go as far as the eye can see.

Glass Platform

The glass floor SkyWalk is a thrilling experience as it gives visitors the sensation of walking on air at over 1,000 feet above the busy Bangkok streets. The glass platform is attached to one side of the tower with the rest of the platform just hanging off the edge in free space. The SkyWalk is an exhilarating event for adventure seekers.

Bangkok’s Modern Buildings

All great city skylines have buildings that make the city instantly identifiable. The King Power MahaNakhon Tower is one of those buildings in the Bangkok cityscape but there are many other modern buildings that standout in the maze of Bangkok skyscrapers. Some of the noteworthy building that can easily be seen from the SkyWalk are shown in the following photos.

Chao Phraya River View

Taking a ride on the Chao Phraya River is one of the top experiences for visitors to Bangkok. Additionally, many of Bangkok’s top attractions are located near the Chao Phraya River making the river an easy way to go from one attraction to another without getting into the Bangkok traffic. Seeing the Chao Phraya River from the SkyWalk helps to understand why the river is so important to the city.

Bangkok’s City Parks

I am a big fan of visiting city parks when I travel to major cities. I always enjoy seeing all of the amazing sites that attract me to the big cities but at some point my small town roots get the best of me and I want to be surrounded by trees, walk alongside a lake and hear the birds singing. Sometimes, retreating to a large city park for a couple of hours is exactly what I need. Two of my favorite city parks in Bangkok are Lumphini Park and Benjakitti Park.

Bangkok’s Temples

Religion is one of the core aspects of a culture and it is on display almost everywhere you look in Thailand. Many of the Bangkok temples can easily be seen from the SkyWalk when looking across the city. All of the brightly colored roofs with their distinctive architecture is a testament to the importance of religion to the Thai culture.

The Dust on My Shoes

Visiting the King Power MahaNakhon SkyWalk is an unforgettable experience. I had visited Bangkok a few times before I decided to see the city from the SkyWalk. My first impression was a real wow experience. I knew that Bangkok was a large city but I didn’t expect to see such mass of large skyscrapers. Seeing the Bangkok cityscape reminded me of seeing the Tokyo cityscape.

There is no bad time to visit the SkyWalk but the most popular time is around sunset which allows people to see Bangkok in the daylight and also see the beautiful lights that come on when it gets dark. If you like a little adventure then taking a leap of faith and going onto the glass platform will probably increase your heart rate but if you’re not into that then visiting the SkyWalk will undoubtedly raise your appreciation for the Bangkok cityscape.

I always feel like I have a better understanding of a city when I have seen it from above. Seeing a city from the observation deck of a tower allows me to see things that I could never see from the street level.
