The ArtScience Museum is a space where art and science converge.

The Singapore ArtScience Museum is located on the Marina Bay waterfront and is beside the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. The museum focuses on the connections between art and science through hi-tech exhibits and is the largest private museum in Singapore. It is organized as two major exhibition spaces with 21 spacious galleries which totals nearly 5,000 sq. meter and can accommodate about 3,500 visitors at any one time.

Unique Modern Architecture

The Singapore ArtScience Museum is an ultra-modern building that is designed to resemble the shape of a lotus flower with 10 irregular petals. The irregular shape of the petals gives the building a completely different look from almost every viewpoint.

To emphasize the lotus flower shape of the building there is a large lotus pond beneath the building with a variety of colored lotus flowers blooming in the pond.

A Distinguishing Feature of the Singapore Skyline

All recognizable skylines have at least one distinguishing feature. The Singapore Skyline has three very distinguishing feature, the largest is the Marina Bay Sands Hotel and the smallest is the Merlion fountain. The third is the Singapore ArtScience Museum that sits in the shadow of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel but cannot be overlooked as an important feature of the Singapore Skyline.

Popular Attraction of Marina Bay

The Singapore ArtScience Museum has become a key permanent attraction of the Marina Bay since it was built in 2011. Hordes of people crowd around the small Merlion fountain to take pictures and there is a steady stream of people walking across the Helix Bridge on their way to the Marina Bay Sands Resort. The Singapore ArtScience Museum is seemingly ignored by many tourists but it is a popular attraction with unique cutting-edge exhibits.

Exhibits

The ArtScience Museum is considered the premier regional destination for cultural and intellectual discovery with exhibits that push your imagination limits. Most of the exhibits require purchased tickets but some exhibits are free to the public. It is recommended to check the museum’s website for their current exhibits.

ArtScience Museum’s AI festival in 2024

On my most recent visit to Singapore in 2024, the ArtScience Museum was featuring an AI festival which focused on technology and Innovation. One of the shows that I enjoyed was a quirky artificial intelligence generated story of a little head of garlic which aspired to be a model and encouraged in its quest by a group of supportive aunties. The photos below are a few of the scenes that shows the story of having a dream, achieving the goal and even a failure at the end. It may be hard to grasp the entertainment of the show from a few photos but the show kept me laughing from start to finish.

Nighttime Images of the ArtScience Museum

I always enjoy being in modern cities after dark! I think the modern architecture is more stunning when it is lit up against the dark of night and the Singapore ArtScience Museum is a perfect example. The views at night are spectacular!

The Dust on My Shoes

The unique architecture of the Singapore ArtScience Museum will grab your attention but the exhibitions on the inside is just as exhilarating. Whether you are an art lover, a tech enthusiast or you have an adventurist spirit, visiting this museum is a must see experience when visiting Singapore.

Visiting Singapore is like seeing glimpses of how the future will be but going to the Singapore ArtScience Museum feels like actually being in the future.
