The highlight of my wildlife experiences in Barbados was seeing the green monkeys. Being able to see the green monkeys in Barbados was exciting. Sometimes I have to work very hard to see wildlife and even harder to get quality pictures. The green monkeys in Barbados live in the forest areas throughout the island and some monkeys never come near the populated areas but some monkeys live in the edge of the forest and can easily be seen if you are lucky to be at the right place when they come near.

Monkeys in some places around the world can be aggressive around people but that is not the case in Barbados. These monkeys will allow you to get relatively close to them but they live naturally and do not interact with people. They are not looking for a handout or an easy meal.

The picture below is of two young green monkeys playing on a park table. I love setting at a distance and watch animals enjoy interacting with each other when they don’t know that I am watching. This picture is one of those times.

The pictures below are of monkeys that live in the forest near a local park. These pictures show how these monkeys live in the natural forest and that they can quickly disappear into the forest.

Seeing the green monkeys is a must see when you go to Barbados. When in Barbados, take a break from laying on the beautiful beaches and make the effort to search for the green monkeys. I always enjoy seeing wildlife in its natural environment and monkeys are really entertaining to watch in their natural environment. I hope that you will be able to see the green monkeys when you visit Barbados.

Good luck on your search to see these monkeys!
