The Common Myna is a large black and brown bird with accents of yellow on its bill, legs and behind their eyes. They are often seen in groups and it is obvious when they are around because they are noisy birds.

They are one of the most common birds in southern Asia but they have also been introduced in other places around the world including Australia and Hawaii where I have seen them.

In Asia, I have seen the Common Myna in Thailand and Vietnam as shown in the photos below.

In Hawaii, I have seen the Common Myna in both Maui and in Oahu which are included in the photos below.

In Australia, I have seen the Common Myna in Sydney and in Melbourne but the photos below were taken in Melbourne.

While these birds are easy to see, they are not easy to photograph because they are almost always moving. Even when they are on the ground they rarely stay in one place as they walk quickly as seen in the photo below.

    1. Thanks Marlene, I like that photo too. These birds walk fast like they are in a hurry to get somewhere.

    1. Thanks Ashoak! I knew they lived in India but I didn’t see them when I was there.
